Charitable Group to Discuss ’96 Spending
The Commission on Human Concerns will hold its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at its administrative offices in Oxnard.
The commission, a private, nonprofit charitable organization, will discuss this year’s community services plan and select three members to its executive committee.
The plan, which determines how the commission’s funds will be spent, will focus on case management to help low-income families become economically self-sufficient and stable, providing low-income people with information on their legal rights and fostering access to low-cost legal services, helping increase affordable and low-cost housing, and helping low-income people prepare for disasters and emergencies.
Another goal is to make the Commission on Human Concerns self-sufficient, becoming a multipurpose, service-oriented agency.
The commission’s Oxnard office provides services for low-income Ventura County residents, including employment for the homeless, disaster services, a home-weatherization program, legal services and food, and rental, gas and electric bill assistance. The Ventura office serves the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless.
The public is invited to the meeting at 621 Richmond Ave. Refreshments will be served.
