Studio City : LAPD Bicycle Patrol Based at New Center

Share

In a crisp gray office-sized corner of the Studio City Kinko’s, the Valley’s 26th police service center was opened Friday with much fanfare.

On hand for the opening were Mayor Richard Riordan; City Councilman Mike Feuer, who represents the area, and Police Chief Willie L. Williams, who praised the center as a perfect example of community-based policing.

“All of us are committed to giving community-based policing real meaning throughout the city,” Feuer said, standing in the parking lot of the center at 12101 Ventura Blvd.

The North Hollywood Division’s bicycle patrol will be based in the center.

Police reports can be filed at the centers, said Officer Sandra Carlisle, one of two full-time officers devoted to the North Hollywood Division’s five centers.

In the main, people come to the centers with “minor questions about neighbor disputes and crime prevention,” she said. “Nothing too serious.”

The center will be open between 10 a.m. and noon Mondays, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesdays, 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursdays and 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Fridays.
