COSTA MESA: Horses at Fairgrounds Might Not Be Evicted
- Share via
Horses boarded at the Orange County Fairgrounds may be able to stay in their stalls after all.
In October, the board of directors of the Orange County Fair and Exposition Center considered closing the money-losing Equestrian Center to boarders and keeping the arenas open only for traveling horse shows.
They postponed a decision when boarders protested.
An independent consultant told a fair committee late last week that the equestrian center could become profitable without evicting the 135 horses who live there. The consultant recommended making some improvements to the facilities, including renovating a ring no longer in use and adding portable stalls to increase capacity.
The study will be submitted to the board of directors and will be discussed at their meeting Jan. 25.
