South Bay : HAIL TO THE CHIEF
Police Chief Stephen Port of Hawthorne has been named to the California Council on Criminal Justice.
Port, 44, who has been head of the Hawthorne police since 1989, is also president of the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs’ Assn.
The 37-member council makes recommendations to the Office of Criminal Justice Planning about how to distribute grant funds to counties and local government for criminal justice projects.
Port and two others were appointed Tuesday to serve indefinite terms on the council.
