The city’s Senior Citizens Commission is seeking funds for a proposed day-care center for disabled seniors. The concept won voter approval in a citywide advisory Nov. 7.
“This is not simply an idea whose time has come, this is a pressing need,” Verna H. Dodson, a commission member, told the City Council. She said the group needs a federal identification number to be recognized as a charity.
The council referred her to a private group that supports parks and recreation in the city and has federal charity identification.
