City Seeks Directional Signs Along Freeway

Share

To help the city improve its visibility to motorists and to enhance its business climate, the city is requesting that the California Department of Transportation install directional signs along Interstate 5.

The signs would direct motorists to the city by way of three access points: Camino de Estrella, Pacific Coast Highway and Camino Capistrano.

Because the signs would be installed within the city limits of San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano, Caltrans required Dana Point to first get permission from those cities.

San Juan Capistrano approved the signs last month, and the San Clemente City Council gave the go-ahead for the project Wednesday.

Dana Point officials are now working out the details with Caltrans and hope to see the signs up within a few months, said John Sherwood, economic development manager.
