Private Investigator Sentenced
A 36-year-old Westlake private investigator was sentenced to 250 days in jail Monday for buying illegally obtained information from a former Los Angeles police detective who worked at the Devonshire station, prosecutors said.
Steven M. Kudler was also fined $200 and placed on three years probation by Los Angeles Municipal Judge Elva R. Soper, Deputy Dist. Atty. Efrem M. Grail said.
Kudler received the confidential Department of Motor Vehicles information from Robert Muldrew, who pulled it from an LAPD database while he worked as a detective, Grail said. Muldrew, who pleaded no contest to a charge of unlawful computer access, is serving a 45-day jail term.
