Officials Hope DNA Tests Lead to Killer

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is conducting DNA tests on evidence collected from the car and fingernails of a Redondo Beach woman in the hope of finding clues to her killer.

Sheriff’s detectives investigating the murder of 51-year-old Madolyn Smink, who disappeared after reportedly going on a shopping trip to the Galleria at South Bay and whose body was discovered four days later in the trunk of her car, say they believe that lab results may lead them to a suspect in the case.

“The DNA will be a very defining piece of evidence,” said Sheriff’s Sgt. Doral Riggs.
