Man to Be Tried for Shooting at Cars
A Glendale man was ordered to stand trial Monday on charges that he vandalized expensive cars in Newport Beach.
Allan Eric Carlson, 31, was scheduled to returned to Orange County Superior Court on Jan. 30 for an arraignment on felony charges that he shot out the windows of about 30 cars parked in the Eastbluff section of Newport Beach last month.
A pellet gun believed used in the vandalism was found in his car, police said.
If convicted, Carlson could face a maximum sentence of three years and eight months in prison, Deputy Dist. Atty. Jack Sullens said.
Carlson remains in Orange County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
The Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith is monitoring the case against Carlson, who was arrested in 1993 on suspicion of stamping racist messages on notebooks at a supermarket.
Last year, a Los Angeles County court issued an injunction against him, prohibiting him from placing fliers into product packaging.
Newport Beach Police are investigating the vandalism charges.
