WILD NIGHT: The Mighty Ducks will be one of five National Hockey League teams to introduce third jerseys Saturday. The Ducks will play the Kings in Los Angeles that day on Fox TV. The jersey? Wild Wing, the team mascot, will be prominently displayed on it, “crashing upwards through the ice surface,” with a teal background, a spokesman says. The Kings will have a new look that day too, something splashy in purple and gold.

DREAM DOLLARS: The Lotto people think they have a super idea for Orange County on Super Bowl Sunday. Their Fantasy 5 “Dream Machine” will be at the Huntington Beach Mall that day, a smaller version of the game featured on TV’s “The Big Spin.” Eight players will be selected each hour. Prizes they can win include lottery tickets and airline tickets--plus at least a shot at going on “The Big Spin.” . . . Local malls competed for the chance to host this event. Says Pat Rogers, the mall’s marketing director: “It gives us a star, so to speak.”

NEW PLAYER: For 20 years, Huntington Beach bestselling mystery author Elizabeth George has been a season ticket-holder for South Coast Repertory. Now, she’s more than a fan--she’s underwriting one of its plays. . . . George quips: “I’ve been in its Friends group, then its gold club, then platinum; I guess this is the next step up.” . . . The play, to open March 15, is “If We Are Women.” George says it appealed to her because one of the four female characters is a writer.

NEW TOYS: A new attraction will debut Friday at Disneyland. It’s the Toy Story Funhouse. The house is now at Hollywood’s El Capitan Theater, where youngsters get to play among models of the “Toy Story” movie’s characters as part of the price of admission. . . . If you’ve seen the movie, this one has all the favorites: Mr. Potato Head, Buzz Lightyear, Bo-Peep and Slinky Dog. The amusement park is locating the new feature in Tomorrowland, near Space Mountain.
