Professional Women to Speak to Students
The 22 professional women scheduled to speak at the upcoming Math and Science Conference in Newbury Park come from different fields. One is a pilot, one is a dentist, one is an engineer.
All use math or scientific skills in their work. By bringing them together to talk with students in grades six through nine, conference organizers hope to encourage young women interested in science and math.
The conference is scheduled for Feb. 10 at Newbury Park High School on Reino Road. The American Assn. of University Women, which is organizing the event, also hopes to show students the career opportunities in science- or math-related fields.
Each student can attend four of the conference’s 22 workshops. Registration is $5 and includes the price of lunch.
To register, call 497-8179.
