There’s no rest from the dreary, with dull, gray skies expected to prevail across Orange County today and Monday, carrying with them the likelihood of more rain.

Several weak storm systems are chasing each other across the region, bringing drizzle and heavier rain at times, said meteorologist Curtis Brack of WeatherData, which provides forecasts for The Times. The sun is not expected to make a return appearance here until Tuesday, he said.

On Saturday, a storm system dropped less than one-quarter of an inch across the county, but it was enough to cause motorists to slip and slide into each other in a number of fender-benders, officials said.

Dana Point and Newport Beach were the wettest spots in the county, with .22 inches of rain.

High temperatures today are expected to be in the upper 50s and low 60s, with lows in the mid 50s, Brack said. Rain is considered most likely this afternoon and again Monday evening.

By midweek, though, residents can look forward to seeing the sun again, as high pressure builds over the area and pushes temperatures back into the 70s, he said.
