Teenager Hits Brother, 3, With Car in Family’s Driveway

A 15-year-old boy warming up the car for his family accidentally hit his 3-year-old brother Friday night.

The teen moved the car forward in the family’s driveway about 7 p.m. as his sister and 3-year-old brother watched, Fullerton Lt. Tony Hernandez said. The teen’s parents were inside the house and had given him permission to warm up the car.

“At one time during his maneuvers, he went forward over the child,” Hernandez said. The tire did not run over the child.

The teen apparently did not realize he had hit his brother until his sister told him, Hernandez said. The parents rushed the child to Martin Luther Hospital. He later was transferred by ambulance to the trauma center at UC Irvine Medical Center. He was in critical condition.
