SKY TECH: When Faith Hillman and Connie Schurr take to the skies for the Air Race of the Americas (B1), they will be doing more than navigation. The aviatrixes plan to send updates on each leg of their trip to their team page on the World Wide Web. . . . The pair figure that they’ll reach their fans quickly that way. “The flying community is fairly affluent,” said Chris Newton, who helped draw up the page. “A lot of them tend to have access to the Internet.” Team news is available at http//www.team-ameriquest.com.

TORCHBEARERS: As the official Community Hero for Ventura County, Priscilla Partridge de Garcia will be carrying an Olympic torch later this year (B1). . . . But the county has a second runner: St. Bonaventure grad Ryan Duston ended up as a Los Angeles-area Community Hero because of a paperwork snafu. Jon Mack, Duston’s high school track coach, says he thinks Duston’s commitment to his sport brought him the honor. “He’s a guy who lives to run.”

O. J. FOR SALE: Call (800) OJ-TELLS and it’ll tell you to send off $37.37 for the Simpson videotape to a post office box in Thousand Oaks. Why Thousand Oaks? Because producer Tony Hoffman lives there, although his office is in Agoura Hills. . . . A worker at the Thousand Oaks post office said there have been some complaints about the use of the box, but any resident is entitled to rent one. . . . Hoffman wouldn’t say how many orders he’s gotten, “but we’re very happy with the results so far.” The tapes are scheduled to be shipped today.

PARK PLAQUE: Ventura’s recreation department must be doing something right--it just reeled in six awards from a statewide parks group. Its quarterly brochure won top honors, and three special events--Dog Day Afternoon, the Ventura Chamber Music Festival and the Hot Wheels Tennis Tournament--won programming awards. . . . Last year was the first for the chamber music festival, which sold out six of 11 concerts. This year, there will be 17 concerts from May 7 to 12.
