Oasis--fronted by the brothers Gallagher, enigmatic singer Liam and guitarist-songwriter Noel--continues to make inroads in the United States after achieving superstar status in its native England. The melodic rock band’s “What’s the Story (Morning Glory)?” has climbed to No. 3 on The Times’ Southern California album chart and No. 4 on the national chart. Meanwhile, George Michael’s “Jesus to a Child” makes a splashy debut, entering the local singles sales chart at No. 1 and the national chart at No. 3. A new album from the English pop star is due out this spring.
