Students to Test Math, Science Skills
Simi Valley residents interested in watching elementary school students test their skills in math and science are invited to a tournament at Royal High School on Feb. 29.
The Math-Science Olympiad is designed to challenge students in such a way that classroom work will seem more fun and less repetitive, school officials say.
“The goal is to create enthusiasm and excitement for science and mathematics for all students,” said Becky Wetzel, of educational services at the Simi Valley Unified School District.
The tournament, from 1:15 to 5 p.m., requires teamwork, planning and cooperation, with the emphasis on learning rather than competition, officials said.
For information, call the district at 520-6560.
