Photo Contest, Safari Among Zoo Activities

Share

A photo contest, an African safari and sleepovers are among the activities planned by the Santa Ana Zoo for spring and summer.

For the first time, the zoo will sponsor a photo contest in which the subjects may be any animal, person or object at the zoo. First prize is a 35-millimeter camera and four passes to the zoo.

Photos that win first, second and third places will be on display at the zoo during May and June. Contest entries must be received by April 30.

Beginning April 5, the zoo will hold sleepovers, where adults and children can learn about nocturnal animals. Costs range from $10 for group members to $40 for individuals.

Other programs, including two on insects and the handling of animals, have begun and require payment of fees.

The zoo is also sponsoring a safari, which will take up to 20 people to Kenya for 14 days beginning June 22.

Zoo Director Ron Glazier will lead the trip, which costs $3,500 per person based on double occupancy. Information: (714) 953-8555.
