USC broke a 5-5 tie with five runs in the eighth inning and went on to defeat Florida State, 10-8, and remain unbeaten in the Anaheim Hilton & Towers Baseball Classic Saturday at Cal State Fullerton’s Titan Field.

Marc Mirizzi, Ryan Stromsborg, and David Valdez each had RBI singles in USC’s big eighth inning. A bases-loaded walk given up by reliever Scott Proctor gave USC another run, and the fifth came in on a sacrifice fly.

The Seminoles scored three runs in the ninth to cut into the Trojans’ 10-5 lead.

Jeremy Morris hit a two-run homer in the top of the eighth to give Florida State the tie.

The victory was the sixth in a row for USC (10-2). Florida State fell to 7-2 after starting the round-robin tournament unbeaten.
