The number of international tourists grew in 1995 but at a slower rate than the year before, according to the World Tourism Organization. Below is a list of the world’s top tourism destinations in 1995 which shows France continuing in the No. 1 spot and Spain edging out the United States for the No. 2 position.

Just the Facts--Due to an editing error, the totals in the Feb. 25 chart on favorite international destinations were not expressed in thousands. According to the World Tourism Organization, the numbers relate to international tourists, a visitor who stays at least one night in the country visited.
