The New Jersey Devils, seeking help to beef up the second-worst offense in the NHL, acquired offensive-minded defenseman Phil Housley from the Calgary Flames in a five-player deal Monday night.

Housley, an all-star defenseman who had previously played in Buffalo, Winnipeg and St. Louis in his 14-year NHL career, came to New Jersey along with defenseman Dan Keczmer.

The Devils sent forward Jocelyn Lemieux and defensemen Tommy Albelin and Cale Hulse to the Flames.
