School District Seeks Construction Fee Hike
Construction fees that are paid to the La Habra City School District might be going up soon.
School board members have scheduled a public hearing for March 14 to consider increasing commercial construction fees one penny per square foot to 19 cents and residential construction fees four cents per square foot to $1.18.
Last month, the state increased by 6.96% the maximum fees that districts may charge developers. School districts must convene public hearings before increasing fees.
If the school board approves it, the rate hike would affect all new construction and remodeling.
The money raised would be used to help pay for the remodeling of Las Lomas Elementary School and the construction of a library and classroom building at Washington Middle School, officials said.
