Obituaries : Edward Lee Cannon; Retired Pep Boys Employee

Edward Lee Cannon, a 44-year Ventura County resident, died Tuesday in an automobile accident. He was 70.

Cannon was born in Oklahoma. After graduating as his high school’s valedictorian, he attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, and Tulsa University.

Cannon retired as a Pep Boys auto parts manager, where he worked for 32 years. He was a member of the Poinsettia Lodge 633, Ventura County Scottish Rite Bodies, Al Malaikah Shrine in Los Angeles and the Ventura Shrine Club.

He is survived by his wife, Fern Cannon of Ventura; daughters Connie Cannon Gajefski and Jill Cannon Peterson, both of Ventura, and brother, Jim Cannon of Houston.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Dave Hall of Trinity Lutheran Church of Ventura officiating and members of the Poinsettia Lodge participating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 3160 Geneva Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90020.
