The Continental Indoor Soccer League’s Board of Governors, who were expected to approve the sale of the team to Arizona businessman Bill Williams on Thursday, delayed a formal vote while it awaits further documentation from Williams.

“We’re waiting on a certain document before the sale is finalized,” said a league official who spoke on condition of anonymity, “but the sale will be finalized.”

Although the league did not disclose the missing document, Williams participated in board discussions in Las Vegas.

Williams, the chief executive officer of American Nortel Communications, Corp. in Scottsdale, Ariz., could not be reached for comment.

Williams and Ogden Facility Management, Corp., reached an agreement on a 10-year lease for the team to play its games at the Pond of Anaheim.

In other news, the governors welcomed Indianapolis as an expansion franchise that will begin play this year.
