Woman Says Voices Made Her Toss Son Into Water
A mother accused of tossing her 3-year-old son over a sea wall, killing the child, told police that she was provoked by voices inside her head.
Lakessia Edwards, 20, remained in custody Sunday for investigation of murder in the death of O’Shay Love. Police said Edwards took her son to the sea wall along Mare Island Strait here Friday. She walked about 300 feet, then tossed him over the rail into the water, which feeds into San Francisco Bay, said Lt. Al Lehman.
Police have found no witnesses.
The boy’s death was discovered Saturday morning when Edwards’ parents visited her home in Vallejo, where she was raising the child alone. “She told them about putting him in the water,” Lehman said.
Divers could not find O’Shay’s body in the 6-feet-deep water.
