Atari Games Sold to WMS Industries: New York-based Time Warner Inc. has sold Atari Games Corp. to WMS Industries Inc. of Chicago, the companies announced. Atari Games, which does business as Time Warner Interactive, employs 300 people at its Milpitas, Calif., plant where it designs, manufactures and publishes coin-operated video arcade games. The purchase price was not disclosed. The company’s most recent hit was Primal Rage, a dinosaur fighting game that was No. 1 in video arcades. A WMS spokesman said the company has no plans to change the Milpitas operation. The deal does not include rights to the name Time Warner or Time Warner Interactive. Atari Games is not related to Atari Corp., the manufacturer of Jaguar home game systems.
