Heinz Buys Organic Baby Food Line: H.J. Heinz Co. completed its acquisition of Earth’s Best Inc., the largest U.S. marketer of organic baby food, for an undisclosed price. Closely held Earth’s Best is based in Boulder, Colo. The company has annual sales of about $28 million and employs about 40 people, Pittsburgh-based Heinz said. Heinz and other companies produced and packed the baby food sold under the Earth’s Best label under agreements with the company, a Heinz spokeswoman said. Heinz has about $1 billion in baby food sales and a 16% market share in the United States.
