Utah State Ousts Nevada
Guard Justin Jones scored 21 points and forward Jon Wickizer added 16 to lead Utah State over Nevada, 70-65, Friday night in the opening round of the Big West Conference tournament before 7,172 at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno.
Nevada finished 16-13.
Fourth-seeded Utah State (17-14) plays top-seeded Long Beach State (17-10), which had a first-round bye, tonight in one semifinal at 6. Long Beach defeated Utah State in their two regular-season meetings.
San Jose State 77, Pacific 57--Forward Olivier Saint-Jean scored 27 points to lead the sixth-seeded Spartans.
San Jose (11-16) plays second-seeded UC Irvine (15-11), which had a first-round bye, tonight in the semifinals at 9.
Pacific finished 15-12.
