FILM PROTEST: An invitation to meet with studio executives at Warner Bros. in Burbank was not enough to quell criticism of the film “Executive Decision,” which Muslim clerics say foments anti-Islamic sentiment (B1). In the film, scheduled to be released Friday, terrorists speak of the Koran and indicate that their religion condones violence. . . . “If not for any other reason, Warner Bros. should be concerned about the economic impact of Muslims objecting to the film,” said Shakeel Syed, of the Islamic Shura Council of Southern California.

FREE RIDE: As in years past, the Los Angeles Police Department is offering rides home Sunday for people whose St. Patrick’s Day festivities leave them too inebriated to drive. But the drivers will be plainclothes police officers. “There is no threat of arrest,” insists a promotional flier put out by the department. Uh . . . OK. Revelers who need a ride can call (800) 70-PADDY.

TOLL RISES: A rash of shootings by LAPD officers in the San Fernando Valley--two more Monday--has left three men dead and one wounded in less than 48 hours. . . . Two of the four faced “third-strike” imprisonment if captured, police said (B1).
