After less than four hours of deliberations, a Pomona jury convicted two teenagers of first-degree murder Thursday in the shooting death of an off-duty Glendora police officer during a San Dimas supermarket robbery last year, authorities said.

Robert Ramirez, 18, of San Gabriel and Larry Hernandez, 17, of Monterey Park could be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for murdering Louis Pompei during the botched robbery June 9. A sentencing date has not yet been set.

Jurors convicted the teenagers of first-degree murder with the special circumstances of the victim being a police officer and the murder occurring during a felony. Neither teenager was eligible for the death penalty because they were juveniles at the time of the crime.
