A guilty verdict was unsealed Monday for the third and final defendant in the 1994 hijacking of a Las Vegas-bound bus, dubbed the “Gamblers’ Special.”

A Pomona Superior Court jury on Friday found Yen Mao Chiu, 24; Houth Chang Taing, 20, and Sinh Ton Nguy, 22, guilty of kidnapping and robbery. But Chiu’s conviction had been sealed until Monday because his attorney was not present when the the jury reached the verdicts, said Sandi Gibbons of the county district attorney’s office.

The men have been in jail since their arrests in 1994.

Posing as passengers, the men boarded the bus in Rowland Heights and robbed all 41 people aboard at gunpoint, passing a bag down the aisle and collecting more than $20,000. They ordered the bus driver to drop them off in Pomona, where they ran away.
