Fox Gears Up: The Fox network on Wednesday announced 33 prospective series in development for next season, including comedies starring Pauly Shore, Julia Sweeney and Gail O’Grady, and dramas with Eric Roberts and Daniel Baldwin. Among the 18 comedies are a “Married . . . With Children” spinoff described as “a sendup of the ‘Friends’ craze”; a “drag comedy” loosely based on the long-running New York stage show “The Honeysuckles”; and “Lush Life,” co-starring Lori Petty (“A League of Their Own”) and Karyn Parsons (“Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”) as two single friends in New York. The 12 dramas in development include a “Tarantino-esque” Aaron Spelling cop show pairing actors Rob Estes (“Silk Stalkings”) and Leon (“Waiting to Exhale”); a new series from “X-Files” creator Chris Carter; and an action hour about a Pacific Rim crime-fighting force directed by moviedom’s John Woo (“Broken Arrow”). Three reality series, including one called “Penn and Teller’s Impractical Jokes,” are also in development for 1996-97.
