Family of Boy Killed in School Bus Crash Sues City
The parents of one of two 8-year-olds killed on a school bus when a malfunctioning trash truck arm punctured the side of the vehicle, sued the city of Los Angeles on Wednesday.
Juan Francisco Mata and Luz De Maria Mata seek unspecified damages for the death of their son Francisco Mata, who died Dec. 6.
The Los Angeles Unified School District; Amrep Inc., which built the body of the garbage truck, and Inland White GMC, which built the chassis, were also named as defendants in the suit.
The mother of the other boy, Brian Serrano, sued the city for unspecified damages a month ago.
A spokesman from the city attorney’s office could not be reached for comment.
