Quick-Fire Webb Is a Case for Controls

Share

Ms. Sandi Webb is a classic example of the reason there should not be a relaxation of the concealed weapons laws.

She makes the argument for the gun control supporters who are legitimately concerned about more incidents happening like the one in Texas a few weeks ago: One motorist cut off another. During the ensuing argument, one of them, who was legally carrying a concealed weapon, got “pissed off,” shot and killed the other motorist. He lost it!

I echo for you Ms. Webb’s statements about her flipping off Sen. Dianne Feinstein. Ms. Webb said she couldn’t stand listening to the senator speaking in favor of an assault weapons ban. She said she was “pissed,” that she “lost it.”

Did Ms. Webb have her “illegally” concealed weapon with her? Maybe. Maybe not. Is it too far a stretch to think that if she had a gun and “lost it,” would she have shot the senator? Why not? Because a rational person would feel the consequences of their action? Are you a rational person when you get so mad and lose it as Ms. Webb did? I think not.

What kind of signal does an elected official send who spouts law and order as her motto yet brags about “illegally” carrying her gun with her and defies anyone to take it away. I think it sends one which clearly says that Ms. Webb, the NRA and those who support her actions are a law unto themselves and that only they know what is right for society.

I pray that we are not becoming a society which preaches frontier justice and whose motto about those who advocate sanity and control is “shoot ‘em all and let God sort them out.”
