Nation IN BRIEF : NEW HAMPSHIRE : Bodies of Avalanche Victims Recovered
From Times Wire Reports
Searchers recovered the bodies of two Massachusetts men buried in an avalanche on Mt. Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast. The avalanche happened at the 4,500-foot level in the Gulf of Slides, a remote gully for hiking and skiing. The two men, whose identities were not disclosed, and a third person hiking separately ahead of them probably caused the slide by their weight on the snowpack, a search coordinator said. The third man escaped.
