Growers, Shippers Join to Aid Scouts
Nearly 40 local farmers and produce transporters are banding together to help raise money for Ventura County Boy Scouts.
The growers and shippers are donating a shipment of produce to be sold in Ohio and New York.
Profit from the sales will help more than 7,000 Ventura County Boy Scouts, according to Sheriff Larry Carpenter, honorary chairman of the fund-raiser.
The annual event was founded three years ago. Last year, the growers and shippers raised $37,000, organizers said.
