Edwards Island

* 2 p.m.: “Harvest Home,” directed by Carlos Siguion-Reyna (Philippines, 1995). A seemingly strong family gradually disintegrates.

* 4: “The Land of Milk and Honey,” directed by Joseph Destein (U.S., 1995). A troubled urbanite flees New York City to become a herdsman on a dairy ranch, where his peace is destroyed by a love triangle.

* 6: “Manhattan Merengue,” directed by Joseph B. Vasquez. (U.S., 1995). This semi-musical focuses on two cargo plane stowaways who disguise themselves past Customs and into New York in search of very different lives. With the short film “Drive Baby Drive,” directed by Paul Rachman (U.S.). Two couples out for a drive find themselves increasingly trapped by one man’s nihilistic obsession.

* 8: “The Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb,” directed by Dave Borthwick (U.K., 1993). Shot in “3-D pixilation,” mixing models with humans. An expanded version of a 10-minute “Tom Thumb” that created an uproar when broadcast in the U.K. over the holiday season. Not for kids. With the short film “Jirohachi,” directed by Tsukuru Imanishi (Japan). A character study of a man and the sacrifices he makes to protect the honor of those closest to him.

* 10: “Comfortably Numb,” directed by Gavin O’Connor. (U.S., 1995). A pampered twentysomething sheds his insulated lifestyle to plunge headfirst into prosecuting New York’s most dangerous criminals.

* 7 p.m.: “Caught,” directed by Robert M. Young (U.S., 1995). A middle-age couple, played by Maria Conchita Alonso and Edward James Olmos, take in a young drifter, with slowly simmering, disastrous results.

Captain Blood’s Village Theatre

* 2:30 p.m.: “Frank and Ollie,” directed by Theodore Thomas (U.S., 1994). Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnson were two of the “Nine Old Men” employed as animators by Walt Disney during his most prolific period. This documentary, by Frank Thomas’ son, captures the friendship shared by these men for more than 40 years.

* 5: “Car Crash,” directed by David Caesar (Australia, 1995). A lighthearted commentary that takes a darker turn.

* 7:30: “Schemes,” directed by Derek Westervelt (U.S., 1995). Shot entirely in Newport Beach, this noirish film features a newly widowed architect visited by a woman claiming to have been a friend of his late wife.

* 8: “Traps,” directed by Pauline Chan (Vietnam-Australia, 1994). French Indochina provides the setting for two young lovers who happen to be co-workers, and the personal, professional and psychological complications that ensue.

* 10: “Toast With the Gods,” directed by E. Magun (U.S., 1995). An update of Homer’s “The Odyssey” set in modern-day Seattle. A drug dealer and stripper try to escape their unhappy surroundings.
