P&G; Cutting Paper Product Prices: Procter & Gamble Co. said it is reducing the prices of its Charmin bath tissue, Puffs facial tissue and Bounty paper towels because of recent declines in raw material prices. Consumers may never see the price cuts because wholesalers and retailers may not pass the savings along. However, P&G; spokesman Mark Leaf said shelf prices often reflect price reductions from the manufacturer. Beginning with shipments of April 22, Cincinnati-based P&G; said, it will cut list prices of Charmin an average of 8.6% and Puffs an average of 8.5%. Bounty’s list prices will be reduced an average of 4.8%. P&G;’s prices for paper products are more closely tied to fluctuations in pulp prices since the company sold its pulp businesses. Kimberly-Clark Corp. in Dallas did not indicate if it will match the cuts.
