Suspect, 14, Arrested in Small Bomb Blast
A 14-year-old was arrested on suspicion of making a small bomb that exploded in a Los Alamitos neighborhood, the third chemical device found in the county this week, police said.
The explosion occurred in the 4600 block of Green Avenue about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday. No one was injured.
Police found a detonated device made from a plastic water bottle filled with household chemicals and arrested a suspect within an hour, Detective Maury Dandoy said. “We had personal knowledge of this person because he has had contact with the police in the past,” he said.
The Los Alamitos teen, whose name was not released because he is a minor, previously was arrested when a bomb exploded in his hand.
On Monday, two small acid bombs were found at the Huntington Beach High School running track.
