RIORDAN RAP: Promising cuts in taxes and red tape for entertainment companies that want to expand or relocate to the city, Mayor Richard Riordan on Thursday visited Film Roman, a North Hollywood animation studio. . . . The Emmy Award-winning company, which produces “The Simpsons,” is the largest Latino-owned business in the Valley. Hispanic Business Magazine recently put founder Phil Roman on a list of the country’s 100 most influential Hispanics.

BREAKS: Ever since the city offered an incentive package worth $70 million to entice DreamWorks SKG to Marina del Rey, Riordan’s office has been deluged with calls from companies from other states as well as Burbank and Glendale, said Rocky Delgadillo, the head of Riordan’s business team.

CLASSICS: Film buffs who bemoan the lack of art-house fare in the Valley may find some consolation in the Bugs Bunny Film Festival showing at the AMC Promenade 16 theaters, above, during its opening weekend (B1). . . . Fifteen classic Warner Bros. cartoons, featuring Bugs, Daffy, Elmer, Tweety and others, will run in a continuous loop. Proceeds go to a children’s charity.

GOOD NEIGHBOR: Burbank’s Warner Bros. beat out 600 other companies Wednesday to win the top office recycling award given out by the U. S. Conference of Mayors and the Environmental Protection Agency. How’d it win? Every staffer receives recycling training and personal recycling bins. . . . “People like to work for a company that is conscientious,” recycling manager Shelley Levin Billik said.

BRINKS: The guard, whose armored truck was hit by gunshots Wednesday, left a West Hills hospital Thursday after being treated for cuts from flying glass. His name hasn’t been released and investigators remain puzzled. “It’s a strange case,” Brinks security chief Martin Crowe said.
