DUMPING THEIR LOSSES: There’s a good chance that about 40,000 customers in the east county will be getting a new trash hauler, now that the Asadurian family has agreed to sell G. I. Industries (B1). . . . But the Asadurians, who have been in bankruptcy court for 3 1/2 years, aren’t unhappy about dumping their trash business. . . . “We’re tickled pink to be out of it,” owner Manuel Asadurian said.

A STEP UP: For the first time in 2 1/2 years, the Channel Islands Air National Guard base near Oxnard will have a general as its leader. John Iffland, who has been at the base nearly three years, was promoted earlier this month but will be honored today in a 2 p.m. ceremony at the base auditorium. . . . Iffland, who commands 1,200 reservists and full-time personnel at the base, says his new title lends his unit prestige and influence. It is the only one of the five major Air Guard units in the state to be headed by a general.

ROOM ENOUGH: Although many people are arguing over the future of Camarillo State Hospital (B1), everyone seems to agree on one thing: A hearing scheduled at the hospital today will be more accommodating than the March 8 forum held at Camarillo City Hall, where hundreds of people were unable to get inside to testify. . . . “That venue was just far too small,” union official Brian Bowley said. “The only worse place to have held it would have been a broom closet.”
