Kentucky center Mark Pope is aware the pressure is on to win the school’s first national championship since 1978.

“I think our fans would be the first to step up and say they’re absolutely nuts,” Pope said. “I think everything that goes with it, whether it’s expectations or whatever, they take it to the extreme limit. And they’re proud of that. We love it.”

The NCAA and CBS are referring to the Final Four venue as the Meadowlands Arena, not the Continental Arena, as it is now known.

The reason? The NCAA signed its contract with the arena before the name change. However, NCAA Executive Director Cedric Dempsey isn’t sure if his institution will refer to next year’s Final Four venue in Indianapolis as the RCA Dome.

Dempsey was pretty sure that this will be the last year the Final Four will be held in a small arena.

“I do think it’s impossible any longer for a venue of this size to host an event of this magnitude,” he said.
