John Mellencamp is finishing a new album, titled “Mr. Happy Go Lucky,” due in August. The Indiana rocker is joined by his regular band, plus a guest appearance by Tony Toni Tone singer Raphael Saddiq. . . .

“Straight From the Streets,” the independent documentary about the cultural roots of L.A. rap, is finished, with producer Rob Corsini and director Keith O’Derek (who does segments with the same title for KTTV-TV Channel 11 news) screening it now for potential distributors. Among those appearing in the film are Snoop Doggy Dogg, Cypress Hill and Ice-T.
