AWARD FOR RUDENESS

Share

Regarding the recent Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards (Theater Notes, March 24): If it is indeed true, as it is so often said, that every nomination is an honor almost as important as winning the award itself, would it not have been appropriate to honor all the nominees, instead of completely ignoring those who were in a category that won no award?

The award for ensemble performance was just skipped over, as if it never existed, though there were two tables full of nominees--including my husband, Clayton Landey. Those awaiting the outcome didn’t mind not winning the award nearly as much as the inconsideration of just being ignored. All the other nominees were announced whether they won or not.

Being ignored completely, especially with the emotional expectations of perhaps winning the final honor, was a plain, cold, wet slap in the face, ignorant, inconsiderate, hurtful and just plain rude.
