I have no problem with Judge Francisco Firmat’s saying that, “Immigration in this country has been the lifeblood” and that “there’s a lot of anger out there” (“Jurist Retains Immigrant’s Perspective of U.S. Ideals,” March 24). I don’t think that most Americans are against immigrants that come to the United States legally as Firmat mentioned. The big problem as I see it that our relatives did immigrate to America but most took the proper channels to become citizens. Even if they did not, does it make it OK for “new” immigrants to come into America illegally? I think not. I believe this saying is fitting: Just because everyone is doing it, doesn’t make it right.
