Liz Giltner of Chaminade High equaled her best in the high jump for the third time this season and Damon Francis of North Hollywood narrowly missed winning three events in the Greater San Fernando Valley Invitational track and field meet Saturday at Birmingham High.

Giltner, sixth in the high jump in the 1994 and ’95 State championships, cleared 5 feet 8 inches before missing three attempts at 5-9. She also timed 15.0 seconds to win the 100-meter high hurdles.

“I’m really happy with my height because my training cycle is completely off,” Giltner said. “I’m doing a lot of strength work right now and not a whole lot of actual jumping.”
