Enrollment Climbs at Ventura Campus

Enrollment at the Ventura campus of Cal State Northridge has reached an all-time high this semester, university officials said Monday.

“We’ve had a successful fund-raising campaign and were able to restore classes that had been cut during the recession,” said Joyce M. Kennedy, director of the Ventura campus. “We expect the enrollment to continue to climb.”

Classes at the Alessandro Drive campus now have 681 full-time equivalent students, a number that is calculated by taking the total number of units for which students are enrolled and dividing by a full-time course load of 15 units.

Since the majority of students at the Ventura Campus are working adults who attend school part time, the enrollment represents 1,262 students, officials said.

With additional students registered through Open University and Continuing Education, the total number of students at the school tops 1,400.

When the spring full-time equivalent enrollment is combined with the fall enrollment of 670, the annual figure has increased 5.8% from the previous academic year.
