A 4-year-old-girl was critically injured Monday in an early morning traffic accident, police said.

Traffic Officer Joseph Gomez said the accident occurred about 9 a.m. as Rosannie Mouzone, 35, of San Fernando, driving north on Tampa Avenue, veered into oncoming traffic just before Plummer Street. She may have been suffering from medical problems at the time of the accident, police said.

Mouzone’s vehicle passed between two cars stopped at a stoplight, then ran into a car driven by Northridge resident Ralph Crawford, hit a tree and stopped, police said.

The little girl, identified as Jessica Morris, was a passenger in Mouzone’s car. Their relationship was not known, police said.

The child was airlifted to Childrens Hospital where she was listed in critical condition after being treated for kidney and spleen injuries.

Mouzone was treated for a fractured clavicle and facial lacerations at Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills. Crawford suffered minor injuries in the crash and was also taken to Holy Cross. Gomez said officers were still investigating the crash.
