Female Mechanics

I read “Overhauling Attitudes” (March 26) with great interest, as I recently met Michelle, who installed new spark plug wires in my old car.

I had never met a woman auto mechanic before I met this enthusiastic young woman; and, I agree that the communication style is quite different. I find that women seem to understand the plight of other women who have to care for their own and the family cars.

I hope that Matea Gold’s article will fire many other women to enter this fascinating field of work.
