Share

Anticipating the arrival of the Olympic torch in Orange County at 5 a.m. April 28, a celebration at Huntington Beach Mall the night before will bring together a number of past Olympians, local officials and residents for dinner and entertainment.

The torch will cross the county as part of its nationwide journey to July’s opening ceremonies of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

Attire for the gala will be athletic wear, said Diane Baker, a member of the steering committee for Olympic Torchbearer events. “We want people to be comfortable. It will be a different kind of party in your tennis shoes.”
