Times Web Site Makes Its Debut Today

Share

Today marks the debut of the Los Angeles Times World Wide Web site, the most comprehensive source of information for and about Southern California available on the Internet. The site, at https://www.latimes.com, offers the daily news content of The Times along with a wealth of information from other sources.

LATimes.com includes a number of unique features, such as a free custom news retrieval service; a regional Internet search engine, developed in collaboration with Architext Software; and searchable classified advertisements. Access to archives of Times stories will be available by early next month.

The new service will be especially valuable to readers of The Cutting Edge, providing another means of accessing stories that appear in the section and a new way of communicating with technology writers and editors. And in the coming months, we will be developing new features that combine the familiarity and ease of use of the printed paper with the limitless space and timeliness of the electronic medium.
